2009.06.24 09.54 RIP: Jonathan David Bones I can't be there today for his funeral. It really sucks. I missed the funeral for his brother when that happened, I also had not been able to get in contact with him in the last couple of years. I asked a friend to either read or post the following at the funeral for me. Jonathan, the name means friend of David. I met Jon when we were both in grade school at Amy Blanc. I had just moved with my family from Suisun. Jon was my first friend that I made, when my family moved to Fairfield in Nov of 86. Jon's younger brother Jason was friends with my next door neighbor Mike. That's how I met Jon. Over the next year going into Jr. High we got to know each other Better. At Sullivan Middle School in 87 and 88 the personal computer was starting to come into it's own and we both helped out in the computer club, as much as it was at that point in time. learning about computer basics, but also helping the club run activities at the dances after school. Durring lunches we hung out in the library watching videos, using the computers that were available and occasionally selling spare computer disks with games on them that we happened to have available. In those days you walked everywhere, and if you didn't walk you biked. We walked back from school from time to time, singing the lyrics from Fresh Prince, Fat Boys, LL Cool J and the like. It was a good time to be alive. Once when I crashed my bike, Jon made sure that I got home ok. The Bike didn't work too well after that, he laughed as we walked. He joked at I had to be the only person he knew that could fall uphill. Jon had a great laugh that was full of life and joy. Hearing him laugh it was hard not to laugh as well. In highschool we continued to have classes together, We made it through our freshman honors english helping each other out with extra credit, which included a audio play we did of a portion of Romeo and Juliet. each of us doing several voices. It was a good time to be alive. Throughout the time at Fairfield High we played table top games, and made new friends. It was there we met Shawn Henton. The three of us did a lot through High School, remaining friends, being there for one another. Walking home and knowing that Jon had my back, when I got into a fight after school my senior year, he was there to make sure the odds where even. Jon was one of those people you could always count on. A friend in the truest sense of of the word. We did a lot of things together as friends, whether it was walking, hanging out, Getting a job at a local comic shop, or just standing next to each other for the class photo, he was there. Jon was there a lot of times when others weren't. And even though our paths took us in separate directions I always thought I would have more time to catch up with him, see how he was doing. Sorry I took so long to check up with you. Jonathan, the name means friend of David. And he was, he was my friend and he will be missed. Mood:  sad

2008.11.11 08.14 New CG Talk Challenge So its that time of the year again and I am feeling like posting for a bit This time its the CGtalk Challenge that is prompting this. I didn't part take in the last challenge. The main reason was that I was busy with a new job at Kingsisle Ent. working on a project that I still really can't talk about. A lot of things have been happening in the last few years, For those who don't know I did get married to Tina. I got a new Car, a Honda Element which I completely love, and a new job out in Austin Texas. I am one of those people who if you asked me, I would never have thought that I would be living and working in Texas, but here I am and I don't mind it one bit. There are some things that I miss about CA, but the work enviorment and the friends completely make up for that. =) The latest CG Talk challenge is called SteamPunk Myths and Legends my forum can be found here http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthr I will try to post more here in the next couple months while the challenge is going on. 2008.01.30 08.29 Stay on Target at times like this, my mind always goes back to that one line in Star Wars when Rad Leader is in the trench making his bombing run on the Death Star. He is sitting there in his cockpit chating to himself "Stay on Target". In my mind he's doing this not only to settle him self but also to settle down the people around him, reminding them all that they have a mission to do. It's times like this that I feel like that guy, chanting to myself "Stay on Target". For those who don't know yet, I am making the move to Texas. Look backa couple enteries and you will see me talking about getting the job and such. I don't post a whole heck of a lot, but I try to make the posts meaningful. Well I did get the job and I am in the process of moving out there at the moment. Tina (my Wife) and I are in the final stages of packing up the cars and closing things out here in San Jose, California. On our ya to have a great big adventure in Texas. Austin to be more specific, the state capitol even. Though the difference between Austin and Dallas reminds me of the difference between SF and Sac. Regardless it will be a good thing over all. THe movers showed up yesterday. While I liked the overall service (we used Smart Movers ) they contract out the Gorillas (the guys who come and move all your stuff) they were the a typical redneck trucker types. Missing teeth, pants falling down because they didn't have a belt. Their were only two of them and it took hours from them to load all of our stuff in to the vaults. The Vaults them selves are a little smaller than PODS, but are shipped via UPS. We will have different Gorrilas on the other end to unload this stuff. I will say this though, The used every bit of space in those Vaults as they could. I will be taking photos of the trip out to Austin, since we are going to be driving out there. I have a pretty slick war driving utility built into the tablet PC that I am going to be posting from. i will be taking my main machine with me as well. But I won't have the ability to just set it up and tear it back down again at every place we stop. Whereas we will have wireless at most places we go, and like I said I have a pretty slick app that lets me look at a lot of things =) The cats are still a little freaked this morning, they keep looking at us and say ing Mom, Dad, all our stuff is gone... where is the stuff. Their stuff being the tables, chairs, bookcases and cat trees that we own or seem to rent from the cats. I still have to return the cable modem and Reviceiver to the cable company this morning, but I am going to wait on that till Tina has had a chance to check her email and such. Our plan is to wake up Thursday and head down the 5 to the 10 and just take the 10 out to Austin. Its pretty straight forward. Though if I were driving by myself I'd leave tonight, but I will work on getting a fulll nights sleep and be well rested for a nice long drive with cats in my car and cats in Tinas car so that we don's have all the cats in one car, it should be easier to manage this way. I will have my cell phone on me and charged at all times. Today is simply a day of relaxation and closing out somethings. I may be walking over to Paneras later to post from their free wireless. =) Take care everyone I will be checking back here and my mail from time to time through out the trip. |

2008.01.07 14.43 Happy 2008 its looking good so far So I have ben really quiet for that last several weeks, This was due in part to school and lots of teaching. Helping students get stuff rigged up. Over the school break I got a call from a recruiter out in Austin Texas, to interview for a position for Technical Artist/Character Rigger. Something I have really come to understand since I started teaching is that more than anything else I really love character rigging. I flew out to Austin and interviewed for KingsIsle. Things went well, the flights were a bit tiresome, but the experience in Austin was great! I just got the call from the recruiter that they (KingsIsle) are writing up the offer letter. I am really excited. Now it's a matter of getting packed up and all. Will be posting more in the future. Mood:  bouncy

2007.07.02 01.50 Buildings Created some basic buildings and did the UV unwarping for them, this way I can texture the buildings, duplicate them, and build out the city that the creatures are going to play Rock, Paper, Sicissors over. It will also make, making varations on the buildings easier and less time consuming.  |

2007.05.29 09.55 Ding! 33 Yay! I leveled up today (33) I know that for the most part I have not been posting a whole lot lately. Though I have been a bit busy. At the moment I am teaching summer sessions at Cogswell Polytechical College it's a fun job. I do however have an idea brewing that is starting to take shape. I will talk more about this in the comming months, but for now I am going to try and keep it under wraps until I can get more done for it.
